Blepharoplasty patients usually experience minimal discomfort, though some tightness and soreness in the eyelids may occur. This can be managed with over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers. Detailed post-care instructions are provided, including the need to keep the head elevated as much as possible for the first few days, even during sleep, and to apply cold compresses during the first 24 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Bruising is the main concern after blepharoplasty, and using cool compresses during the initial 24 hours can greatly reduce the likelihood of bruising and swelling.
During the first week, dryness, itching, tearing, and blurry vision may occur. Contact lenses should be avoided for at least a week to allow the incisions to heal. Bruising generally disappears within ten days, and reading can typically be resumed in two to three days. Stitches are removed on day five, and most patients return to work and regular activities within a week. Strenuous activities should be postponed for about three weeks.
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, effectively lifts and rejuvenates the upper eyelids while reducing the appearance of under-eye bags. Both men and women achieve a more refreshed, youthful look, and if drooping lids were impairing vision, patients may also notice improved clarity.

Yes, blepharoplasty can be combined with other procedures to achieve specific aesthetic goals. It is often paired with other facial rejuvenation treatments, such as a facelift, forehead lift, Botox® injections, laser skin treatments for dark under-eye circles, or fat transfer to add volume under the eyes or brows.
In a consultation, your health history and cosmetic goals will be reviewed, and an examination will be conducted to determine if an eyelid lift is the most suitable option for you. Before and after photos will also be shared to help you visualize the potential results.
The eyelid lift typically is completed in as little as 1-2 hours.
The recuperation varies but bruising is the main concern after blepharoplasty. Apply cool compresses as directed for the first 24 hours to minimize potential bruising and swelling. Also, keep your head elevated at all times for the first several days, even when sleeping. Avoid wearing contact lenses for at least 2 weeks to provide the incisions time to heal. Most patients are ready to return to non-strenuous work in about one week. Strenuous activity and work must be avoided for up to three weeks. Bruising usually fades completely in about seven days.
Most patients return to work within seven to ten days.
You may be able to resume your fitness program one to two weeks post-surgery.
Eyelid lift surgery causes mild discomfort, which can be significantly relieved with prescription pain medication or even over-the-counter options like Tylenol.
Medical insurance generally does not cover blepharoplasty.
