Chest Wrinkles

Say Goodbye To Chest Wrinkles

While the thinner skin on the face is typically the first place to show wrinkles, unfortunately, it is not always the last. The skin on the chest can experience deep wrinkling that makes wearing a button-down shirt or décolleté-bearing dresses a cosmetic concern.

Like facial wrinkles, chest wrinkling can occur due to the breakdown of collagen and elastic fibers, sun exposure and repeated wrinkling, which can be due to sleeping on your chest or side.

Fortunately, we have ways to reduce the appearance of chest wrinkles, including treatment options that are both effective and non-invasive.

As the years go by, wrinkles start appearing in places you don’t always expect. The chest is one notable example. Whether you love wearing low-cut shirts or you just want to feel more confident in a sundress, chest wrinkles can be a big problem.

What Causes Chest Wrinkles?

The causes of wrinkles anywhere on the body can typically be broken down into two categories:

Environmental factors – External components that negatively impact the skin like excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, dehydration, and (most importantly) sun exposure. The sun’s damaging UV rays harm healthy cells. The more sun exposure, the faster premature aging will take hold.

Age factors – The Gradual loss of collagen and elastin as we age. We lose collagen and elastin as we grow older. The body no longer makes any elastin after puberty, so this loss will eventually have an impact on the skin’s appearance. Connective proteins help keep the skin firm and tightly in place. As they age and weaken, the skin sags and wrinkles form.

Factors That Can Deepen Lines

There are a few unique circumstances that can deepen chest lines. This is because the chest has a very different role from other areas prone to wrinkles, like the face and neck. Chest wrinkles can be due to:

Wearing pushup bras or sports bras – These bras squeeze the breasts together and promote the development of wrinkles. Ensure you wear a bra that enables your breasts to rest comfortably and does not press them together.

Large breasts – Women who have larger or augmented breasts are more likely to see wrinkles occurring in their cleavage. This is because there is more breast tissue and breasts are more likely to form wrinkles between or above them.

Sleeping on your side – Women who normally sleep on their sides will encounter their breasts laying to one side, with wrinkles forming between them.

Treatments For Chest Wrinkles

At Rao Dermatology, we have several treatment options to remove imperfections and tighten this delicate skin by stimulating new collagen. Treatments range from Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels for the neck and décolletage, and a range of laser treatments all that return the décolletage to a more youthful appearance.

Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure.
The needle pokes the skin to create a micro-injury. This not only stimulates collagen, but also creates channels to allow the direct infusion of serums deeply into the skin.

The serums can be platelet rich plasma or effective antiaging solutions that contain growth factors and hyaluronic acid to combat aging even further.

The plumping of the skin, filling in of fine lines and scars, and improvement of discoloration are all achievable with microneedling.

Chemical Peels
With our chemical peel treatments, you can begin your journey to healthier, more youthful-looking skin with our advanced, non-surgical cosmetic Skinceutical treatments

Without downtime, these customized, medical-grade chemical peels exfoliate and stimulate the skin to improve a variety of conditions, including hyperpigmentation, acne, signs of fine lines and wrinkles, and many other concerns. At Rao Dermatology, we can improve the appearance of your skin with results that give off a smoother, more radiant glow.

IPL
Intense Pulse Light treatment is a photorejuvination treatment that focuses primarily on irregular pigmentation, sun damage, and discolouration or brown spots on the surface of the skin or face. A broad spectrum of light is transmitted through a small, smooth, transparent handpiece which is gently placed over the skin. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the wavelength range allowing it to be optimized for different applications and skin types.

The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging them. The body’s natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
